Note On Speculation Around AEW Statuses Of Sammy Guevara & Tay Melo

Sammy Guevara raised some eyebrows when he removed AEW from his social media bios, and a new report has a note about his and (more concretely) Tay Melo’s statuses. Guevara posted to Twitter on Sunday with the post “new bio,” calling attention to the fact that his bio now just reads “World Champion, Husband, Father & Professional Wrestler.”

That caused many to speculate that Guevara is exiting AEW. Bryan Alvarez reports that while no one knows what’s going on with Guevara, he has learned from multiple sources that Melo requested a release some time in 2025 but was denied. It was noted that the expectation from sources is that they will know “what’s up” tomorrow when the crew and roster convene for AEW Dynamite.

Guevara has been used sparingly on AEW TV in recent years, more regularly working for ROH where he was ROH World Tag Team Champion until he and Beast Mortos lost the titles to Místico and Máscara Dorada at CMLL Viernes Espectacular on June 26th.

As for Melo, she has been used more regularly, working on AEW Collision. Her most recent match came on June 6th, when she and Anna Jay lost a Women’s World Tag Team Championship match to The Divine Dominion.

AEW Dynamite takes place tomorrow night in Nashville, Tennessee. Neither Guevara nor Melo are announced for the show.
