The Butcher and The Blade’s times in AEW are officially over, as they’ve departed the company per a new report. Fightful Select’s Sean Ross Sapp has confirmed that the two have left after AEW opted not to offer them an extension on their contracts.
The Butcher and The Blade made their AEW debuts on the November 27th, 2019 episode of AEW Dynamite, managed by The Bunny (now Allie in TNA). They were mainstays of the tag team division throughout 2020 and joined the short-lived Hardy Family Office stable in April of 2021.
The two haven’t competed together in AEW/ROH since the January 10th, 2024 episode of ROH TV. They reunited on the independent scene for a match at Limitless Wrestling’s Bissell Brothers Bash in March. The Blade has remained active on the indie scene, most recently competing for C4 Wrestling on May 22nd. Butcher noted in March that the two were still under contract and that Blade, who had been injured, was cleared to return.
The Butcher and The Blade are now free agents and can perform/sign anywhere.
