The Lucha Brothers Reportedly Expected to Leave AEW & Join WWE
– F4WOnline.com reports that former AEW Tag Team Champions, The Lucha Brothers (Rey Fenix and Penta El Zero Miedo), are believed to soon be leaving AEW, and they could be found for WWE. It was previously rumored that Penta’s AEW contract would be up around August or September. Fenix’s contract is believed to be up near the end of the year.
Per Alvarez, the internal belief within AEW is that the former Tag Team and World Trios Champions are leaving AEW, and they will likely sign with WWE after their contracts expire. It was first reported by WrestlePurists earlier this week that they were likely leaving AEW and heading to WWE. Additionally, a Trios Championship Match that was set for the tag team at All In has reportedly been changed due to their status.
The Lucha Brothers have been part of AEW since the promotion first began in May 2019. They competed at AEW’s first event, Double or Nothing 2019 in May of that year, losing to The Young Bucks. Since that time, they’ve become AEW Tag Team Champions and won the AEW World Trios Titles with PAC. Fenix also later became an AEW International Champion, beating Jon Moxley to win the belt.
