Thunder Rosa Weighs In On What Has Helped AEW Women’s Division Grow the Most

Thunder Rosa believes that a focus on storylines is one of the biggest factors in the AEW women’s division’s growth. Rosa has been part of the AEW roster since 2020, and she has seen the division grow to become a much bigger part of AEW TV. She had a reign at the top as AEW Women’s World Champion from March to September of 2022 and during that time she has continued to serve as a mentor to younger talent.

Rosa was asked on the Battleground Podcast about what has helped the division grow from its early days, as well as how she balances her own career with helping others. You can see the highlights below:

On What’s Most Helped the Women’s Division Grow:

“I think there’s a lot more focus on some of the storylines. Some of the girls have had an opportunity to really develop their characters, which is amazing and that is great. There has been a diversity of people coming in and out on the top spots, right? And another thing that I really enjoy right now is that exchange of talent from different companies. And some of them were able to get signed fully full-time with AEW, and some of us have been able to go back and forth from other companies. So, I feel like that has helped us so much because it’s like a continuous cycle of learning. Because we’re going to different places, and we’re learning different things and we’re bringing it to AEW.”

On Finding a Balance Between Mentoring Talent & Her Own Success:

“You just have to know when it’s your time to shine, and that is every time you get in the ring. They cannot dim your shine, honey. Even if you are helping and mentoring, when you are you and you’re meant to shine, things will come to you. Things will come to you.

“So, I am not worried about it. I’m living a very wonderful life right now in my career. I am content with what I have achieved; I know that I’m gonna achieve a lot more. And I’m just really happy with what I have done, and what I’ve been able I’ve been able to accomplish, and how I’ve been able to utilize my platform to support other young women and other women inside and outside of the ring, which is the most important thing for me. The titles and everything is like — that’s the legacy that I want to leave in this world.”
