AEW commentator Tony Schiavone has provided another positive update on Steven Borden’s status amid his recent injury. As noted, Borden’s AEW PPV debut didn’t go as planned, as he suffered an injury after colliding with Kevin Knight while attempting a Coast-to-Coast dive off the top rope. Borden landed back-first, leading to his head colliding with the mat.

The match was ultimately awarded to Kevin Knight and Kyle Fletcher after the referee deemed Borden unfit to continue. He was rushed to the hospital, and Schiavone provided updates on his status throughout the show. Tony Khan also shared an update on Sting’s son at the post-All Out Media Scrum, revealing that all the tests came out well and that Borden was expected to fly home on Monday.

During the latest edition of his What Happened When? podcast, Schiavone provided another update on Steven Borden. The commentator revealed that he recently spoke to Borden, who said he has not been experiencing any headaches or dizziness.

However, he didn’t share an official diagnosis or the timeline for Borden’s in-ring return. Here’s what he said [via F4WOnline]:

On the Status of Steven Borden

“I talked to Steven just yesterday on the phone, and he was fine. He had no headaches. He had no dizziness. As far as a diagnosis is concerned, that has to come from our doctor because I’m not—I can’t make that. But I can tell you, by talking to him, he said, ‘I’m fine.’ He did tell me, he said, ‘Of all the years that I played football for the University of Kentucky,’ he said, ‘I never had a concussion; I never experienced anything like that.’ And he was more upset that he thought that he ruined the pay-per-view by what happened. And I said, ‘No, you didn’t.’ I said, ‘Because we announced it, and then we announced it again to the crowd. So everybody was very happy that you were okay, so that really lifted everybody’s spirits.'”

On the Potential Timeline for His In-Ring Return

“So how long he’s going to be out? I don’t know. I’m sure there have to be some; they have to check on him before he can get back in there. It was very scary.”
