Trick Williams Addresses Potentially Defending US Title Against Carmelo Hayes

WWE United States Champion Trick Williams addressed potentially defending his title against Carmelo Hayes in the future.

Williams captured the title from Sami Zayn at WrestleMania 42 and successfully defended it against the Canadian at tonight’s Backlash PLE. Interestingly, Zayn had won the US Title from Carmelo Hayes following an assist from Trick on the Road to WrestleMania.

At the Backlash Post-Show, Trick said that he does not desire to be a “fighting champion” and defend the title every single week as some of his predecessors have done. Williams said he wants to elevate the title by defending it against deserving candidates. At this point, the crowd started chanting Carmelo Hayes’ name, to which Trick said:

Trick: “Y’all wanna see Trick versus Melo?”

The crowd cheers.

Trick Williams : “The people [have] spoken. Let’s see what happens.”

Lil Yachty: “Melo could get it too, though.”

Trick Williams : “I mean, look, look, look, look, look, we’ll see what happens. Me and Yachty, we’ll go talk about it and see what we come up with.”
