Trick Williams Retains US Title In Cage Match On WWE Smackdown

Trick Williams remains the WWE United States Champion, defeating Baron Corbin in a cage match to open this week’s WWE Smackdown. Friday night’s episode saw Corbin get his rematch against Williams within the confines of the cage, a match that Williams ultimately won.

The 12 minute match saw Corbin try to use his physicality to overpower Williams, throwing him in the cage wall early in. The two ended up fighting at the top of the structure, a battle Williams won, but Corbin was able to prevent the champion from escaping with a guillotine choke and dragged him back into the cage for a superplex and a nearfall.

Corbin stopped Williams from getting to the cage door and kicked the door, knocking Lil Yachty down who was at ringside. Williams hit a Trick Kick for two, but Corbin came back with a chokeslam and went to go throiugh the door. However, Yachty slammed the door in Corbin’s face.

The finish came when Corbin hit a German suplex and a Deep Six, but only got a nearfall. Williams was able to counter the End of Days, then hit three Book Ends to get he pinfall and retain the title.

You can see clips from the WWE Smackdown match below. Williams’ second reign with the United States Championship is now at 20 days, having won it from Corbin at WWE SummerSlam.
