Trick Williams Looks Back On Career-Defining WrestleMania Win Against Sami Zayn

Trick Williams says winning the WWE United States Championship at WrestleMania 42 remains the biggest moment of his main roster career so far, describing his victory over Sami Zayn as a milestone he will never forget.

Speaking in a recent interview with Bleacher Report, Williams looked back on defeating Zayn on WWE’s biggest stage and said it is still his favorite moment since joining the main roster. He also said he’s excited to relive the match when it is featured on Netflix’s Unreal Season 3.

“It was just a beautiful moment, Williams said. “Just think about how fast your life can change. At that point, four months on the main roster, winning a WrestleMania match against a future Hall of Famer. Let’s talk about the Gingerbread Man [Zayn] for a second. That was no easy feat. So to be able to have that magical moment at WrestleMania, I don’t take it for granted.”

The WrestleMania match was the conclusion of a rivalry that began when Williams confronted Zayn on SmackDown. When the two finally met on the grand stage, Williams defeated the reigning champion with the Trick Shot to capture the United States Championship.

The victory marked several firsts in his WWE career. It was his first WrestleMania win, his first championship on the main roster, and the biggest title victory of his career to date.

The championship win also continued Williams’ rapid rise after moving up from NXT, where he had already established himself as one of WWE’s top stars.
