A new report has the latest on Bruce Prichard transitioning out of his current WWE role and possible succession plans. As noted last week, PWInsider reported that Prichard plans to retire from his role as Executive Director – Creative Writing & Talent with a post-WrestleMania retirement expected. The report had said Prichard would likely remain with WWE in a consulting role. Fightful Select also reported that Prichard would still be part of WWE but would be working from home.

Fightful Select has another uptate, confirming that there is a transition plan in place with Prichard expecting to work from home rather than retiring. Prichard is said to have a “six-month plan in mind,” because he has a neck surgery that needs to be done as it has made traveling difficult.

There had been a report over the weekend that Shawn Michaels could take over Prichard’s role. However, Fightful Select reports that some in WWE have pushed back on that and said most of the news surrounding NXT about the matter was either not true ot not yet close to solidifed. WWE sources said that a succession plan could be in order, but thjat those outlined would result in a domino effect that would echo across WWE, NXT, Evolve and ID in a way that there would need to be a lot of adjusting to the company’s infrastructure.

The report also notes that AJ Styles is expected to gain influence in WWE in terms of his scouting. One source at the Performance Center said that Styles has not been “running things” at the training center, but did fill in to finish a class recently. Styles has been called a regular and positive presence at the PC, and he is expected to continue to rise in influence there.

Finally, Bobby Roode has been planned to take on a role similar to those of Prichard or Michael Hayes, but sources said that is far from solidified and if needed, they would be firmed up in the cominng months.
