Update on Lance Archer’s AEW Contract Status

As a member of the Don Callis family, Lance Archer has been getting more TV time than he has in quite a while on AEW programming. Is that something that’s going to last? Well, much ay depend on what happens this summer.
Per Dave Meltzer via Figure Four Online, his AEW contract expires in July.
Archer has wrestled for many companies, from TNA to New Japan. He’s now 49, and likely doesn’t have a lot of years of leverage left. As Vance Archer, he previously worked for WWE as part of the failed ECW reboot, and then later on Smackdown in a tag team with Curt Hawkins called the Gatecrashers. An expected push for the duo never materialized as promised, with Archer later recalling that it was tough to be a heel in the PG era.
Would they want to make a move for him now? WWE certainly has no aversion to top guys in their 40s, but with Roman Reigns and CM Punk trading age-based insults lately, 49 year-olds would probably need to be pretty special as new signees. “Vance” Archer is not going to get offered the big farewell tour push that Chris Jericho might have had.
We’ll find out in the next three months.
