Update On Starboy Charlie’s Status Ahead Of WWE ID Title Match

Starboy Charlie is set to compete for the WWE ID Championship on Monday night and a new report has an update on his contract status. As previously reported, Cappuccino Jones is set to defend his championship against Charlie at Wrestling Open RI on Monday night. The announcement noted that should Charlie win, he will both become champion and receive a WWE ID contract.

According to Bodyslam+, sources have indicated that Charlie will become part ot the ID progream whether he wins the title or not. He is expected to get a new ring name much like a number of the other other WWE ID talent, who have received new names that are trademarked.

Starboy Charlie previously worked a taping for WWE EVOLVE. He is an 11-year veteran and the current co-holder of the West Coast Pro Tag Team Championships along with Titus Alexander.

Cappuccino Jones is the inaugural champion, winning the title at the GCW ID Showcase on August 1st, 2025, defeating Jack Cartwheel in a tournament final. He has reigned for 234 days and defended the title nine times, most recently defending it against Mike Cunningham at Beyond Ballroom Blitz on February 9th, also in Cranston, Rhode Island.

Tonight’s match takes place at Wrestling Open RI’s event in Cranston, Rhode Island and will stream live on IWTV.
