Brock Lesnar vs. Oba Femi was the main event of WWE SummerSlam night one, and a new report has a bit of context as to why. Last night’s show was headlined by Femi defeating Lesnar inside Hell in a Cell. The move was curious to some, as Lesnar is known for often pushing to be the opening match on PLEs.
Mike Johnson of PWInsider was asked about the match main eventing. He noted that the belief in the company is that Lesnar pushed to be in the main event slot. While Lesnar likes opening shows so he can travel home early, last night’s show was in Minneapolis which is essentially a home market for Lesnar, and comparatively close to his home in Saskatchewan.
Brock Lesnar gave Femi a show of respect after the match including a hug before leaving to let the Ruler have his celebratory moment. It’s not known when or if Lesnar will be back on WWE TV next.
