Backstage Note On Why WWE Is Taking Longer To Set PLE Locations
WWE has been taking longer to announce the locations of their PLEs such as Survivor Series, and a new report has a note on why that’s the case. The company didn’t announce Survivor Series’ location until Monday, and had considered a number of locations including internationally and Boston, though those talks had fallen through. WWE has also not announced the location for the Royal Rumble as of yet, whereas they usually have the date and location announced at ths point in the year.
Responding to a fan question in the latest Fightful Select Answers Q&A, Sean Ross Sapp noted that the delays are intentional. The report notes that it is being done so they can get the maximum amount in site fees from cities, something that has been acknowledged on earnings calls as a focus of revenue for the company.
Negotiations to host a shot in a city have a ton of aspects to be worked out, and Sapp noted that the financial aspects are key to the delays such as whether the city will cover the venue fees, as well as whether they will pay WWE more to host a show there than other places or whether tax breaks will come into play.
WWE Survivor Series is set to take place at Daikin Park in Houston, Texas on November 28th.
