Will Ospreay Has Pitched an AEW Show In The Colosseum To Tony Khan

Will Ospreay loves AEW’s use of unique venues as of late and says he pitched a show In The Colosseum to Tony Khan. Khan has shown a willingness to go into non-traditional wrestling venues of late, perhaps most famously the SoFi Center for AEW Collision in May.

Ospreay told 107.7 The Bone during a new interview that he loves the company doing new things like that. He noted that he has seen how the iconic Roman landmark has been rented out for events and has pitched the notion to Tony Khan. You can see highlights below:

On AEW Doing Unique Venues:

“There isn’t actually a limit to what we’re able to do. I don’t know, for me the best bit about AEW right now is these crazy venues that we’ve been doing. These venues have been amazing, right? And I’ve heard Tony saying that he wants to go and explore different markets. I’ve heard — it was Puerto Rico that he recently said, he said France, and there are so many like crazy intricate venues that we could find ourselves in.”

On Pitching a Show In The Colosseum:

“But in Italy, I found out that they’ve been renting out The Colosseum to do like nightclub events and DJ events. I was just like, ‘Mate, if we did a pro wrestling event in The Colosseum, it would be incredible.’

“Like I don’t know — I’ve wrestled in Italy before on a small indie and there was like 120 people, but they were wild. And I don’t know what the reach is there. But if there was wrestling in The Colosseum, I’m going… oh man, I’d come out in like a little Trojan horse. Like, a little toga on. I’d love it!”

On Pushing the Notion On Tony Khan:

“I have sent him the little link. I sent him a link just being like, ‘Look, we could rent this building out, mate!’ So maybe if enough people push him into it, it’ll probably happen.”
