Willow Nightingale Ends Thekla’s Reign, Wins Women’s World Title At AEW Redemption

Willow Nightingale is the new AEW Women’s World Champion, defeating Thekla for the title at AEW Redemption. Sunday’s PPV saw Nightingale put an end to Thekla’s title reign to become the first-ever AEW Women’s Grand Slam Champion.

Thekla didn’t go down easy, as she came close to putting away the challenger on a number of occasions. She got an assist from her Triangle of Madness ally Skye Blue, but Nightingale was having none of it and took Blue out at ringside. Thekla took advantage to hit a spear, but when she went to finish the job Nightingale countered and hit her finisher for the pinfall and title in just under 16 minutes.

The win marks Nightingale’s first run with the Women’s World Title. Thekla’s reign ends at 166 days, having won it from Kris Statlander on the February 11th episode of AEW Dynamite.
