Backstage Update on WWE Tryout Invitee Being on TNA’s Radar

A new report from Fightful Select notes that an invitee for upcoming WWE Tryouts was recently on the radar of TNA Wrestling.

As noted previously, WWE is set to conduct its latest Tryouts during SummerSlam 2026 weekend in Minneapolis, Minnesota, on August 1 and 2. It is set to feature Josh Bishop, Titus Alexander, J-Rod, Colton Theron Vaught, Monica Monroe, and more.

On Friday, Fightful Select reported that some of the invitees had interest from other companies before their announced tryouts. This afternoon, the same portal reported that J-Rod was on TNA creative’s radar before she was announced for the upcoming WWE Tryout.

The report noted that sources in Nashville confirmed the current OVW Women’s Champion even received a tryout match at a TNA taping. It must be noted that Tryout matches are a common occurrence during TNA tapings. Fightful Select further noted that J-Rod’s name came up for discussion during the Tommy Dreamer-led creative regime as well, but Dreamer didn’t believe she was ready for television as of yet. J-Rod, it is worth noting, has participated in a WWE Tryout in the past.

Apart from being the OVW Women’s Champion, J-Rod is also a VWE Women’s Champion. She has previously worked for WOW- Women of Wrestling and is featured on American Gladiators.
