WWE x AAA Worlds Collide streamed on YouTube from 7 p.m. ET last night. The show was filmed at Allstate Arena in Rosemont, Illinois, this past Saturday.
On the post-Dynamite edition of Wrestling Observer Radio (WOR) [via F4WOnline], Dave Meltzer reported that the show averaged 76,000 viewers worldwide. The viewership peaked at 107,000 viewers for the main event that featured hometown hero and former Undisputed WWE Champion CM Punk. Here’s what he said:
“It averaged 76,000 viewers. This is a worldwide number in both English and Spanish. Peaked at 107,000, which would be the end of the main event, which was Punk, Rey Mysterio, and Grande Americano against JD, Dom, and Omos. They had 14,000 people there. You can’t say the show was not a success. I know a lot of people were unhappy that they ran it when they did. They could have moved it. They didn’t move it. They probably should have moved it. There’s no good reason not to, but they didn’t.”
Worlds Collide featured a total of seven matches. Mini Vikingo defeated Axiom, EK Prosper, and Je’Von Evans in a Fatal Four-Way Match to earn a future shot at the World Cruiserweight Championship, while La Catalina defeated Roxanne Perez to retain the Reina de Reinas Title.
The Lucha Brothers reunited to take on Daga and Berto of Los Perros del Mal and emerged victorious. In the main event, CM Punk teamed with AAA GM Rey Mysterio and AAA Mega Champion El Grande Americano to defeat Dominik Mysterio, Omos, and JD McDonagh in a six-man tag team match. The show ended with an epic confrontation between Omos and Oba Femi.
