Zaria Thinks Wrestlers Should Have To Work Harder To Earn a Shot at Her Title

During a recent interview on Busted Open Radio, WWE Women’s North American Champion Zaria spoke about her title division, and wrestlers going to General Manager Robert Stone to get a title match. She stated wrestlers in NXT should have to work harder to get a title shot.

She stated (via WrestlingInc.com), “I think people should go through multiple matches. I think there should be tournaments for this. Like to randomly offer someone a match, like what did you really do to really earn this championship?” She continued, “Sometimes there’s no Number One contenders; it’s people like Wren who go to [Robert] Stone – who talks to people all day and just says, ‘yeah, whatever’ – and then you get a championship match.”

Zaria won the title on NXT TV in June. She is scheduled to defend the belt against Wren Sinclair at WWE NXT Heatwave in a Unification Match for the NXT Women’s North American and the WWE Speed Women’s Championships. The premium live event takes place on Sunday, August 30.

NXT Heatwave 2026 will be held at Bert Ogden Arena in Edinburg, Texas. It will be broadcast live on The CW and the ESPN App for Unlimited subscribers.
