Zoey Serrano named her match Becky Lynch as her favorite ever and recalled her reaction to being hit by a thrown chair from Trish Stratus. Lynch battled Serrano (then Zoey Stark) in a Falls Count Anywhere match as the main event of the August 28th, 2023 episode of WWE Raw. The match was memorable for a number of reasons, perhaps most of all because Stratus threw chairs into the ring for Serrano but threw them over the top rope and one smacked Serrano in the side of the head, leading to a bemused reaction from Serrano.

Serrano recalled the match in her appearance on Ring The Belle. She noted that the match is her favorite ever and noted that she was extremely nervous, a matter made worse when her throat started swelling up before the show. She also related the reaction backstage to the Stratus chair spot. You can see highlights below:

On Her Match With Lynch:

“This is my favorite match. Favorite match, hands down. Main event, another dream come true. And what I love about this is you don’t have to plan much. We just kind of had an idea of where we wanted to go, and I’m just sitting there listening to Becky of what to do, when to do certain things. Obviously, you have certain spots planned.”

On Getting Hit With the Chair By Stratus:

“No, no, no, no. Oh, man. I still to this day — like, what are the chances? If we were to plan that spot, it wouldn’t have gone down that way, right? Something would have happened to where it just got all screwed up.

“I knew she was supposed to throw in chairs, but in my head I’m like, ‘Oh, she’s just going to slide them in.’ I didn’t think she was actually wailing them over the top rope. So when I turned around and got smashed, I’m like, ‘No. Really? Did — did that really just happen? Why are you hitting me, dude?'”

On the Reaction Backstage:

“I go to the back after this match and Hunter and all these guys come up, dying. And they just show me all the replays. During commercial breaks they were just replaying in slow motion, fast motion, the turns, different angles. They had a ball with that video.”

On How She Felt Ahead Of the Match:

“Overwhelming, exciting, nerve-wracking. And also on that same day, I ended up — so this was in Memphis. I went to go get Memphis barbecue. And next thing I know I get this big swelling under my chin. No idea why. No idea. And it just filled up with like saliva, I guess. Because when I went to an EMT after, they said, ‘You have like a stone stuck in your saliva gland.’

“So I had them put on a crap ton of makeup to try and cover it. Because it was just swelling right here [left side], and then this [right] side looked normal. So I was stressed out about that, and then I was stressed out about the match. I tend to get bad health anxiety, so all the things are like going through my head like, ‘Is this — what is this? What’s happening?’ So luckily it was just a stone that blocked my saliva. But yeah, it was just that on top of main event in Raw, on top of wrestling Becky, on top of my first ever match where I could use any weapons. It was just a lot. But best night ever. My favorite match.”
