411’s ECW on SyFy Report 9.15.09

September 15, 2009 | Posted by Michael Bauer

Welcome to the ECW on SyFy! As always, I am Michael Bauer, your 411 ECW Re-capper.

And we start with highlights from Christian defeating William Regal at Breaking Point. So much for submissions only. And of course, tonight we get a new #1 contender, via a battle royal. Good luck for me keeping track of that.

But we start with Tiffany coming down to the ring, shaking a few hands along the way. She hypes up Breaking Point again and the ECW Championship, but is immediately cut off by William Regal and the Ruthless Roundtable. Regal apologizes and tries to butter up Tiffany with talking about her looks and her job as General Manager. He then wants to talk about what happened at Breaking Point, since she has a keen eye for talent like his bodyguards. He wanted to know why she wanted to ban them from ringside on Sunday. Tiffany says he understands how communication works and she banned them to keep the match as one on one with no interference. Regal says the decision caused him grief in his preparation and that he should get another shot at the title. But she feels that he doesn’t deserve another shot and that he is action right now and not later tonight in the Battle Royal to determine a new #1 contender…

STAND BACK, THERE’S A HURRICANE COMING THROUGH!

Regal looks pissed off and probably not because he is not in his ring gear. We go to commercial.

The Hurricane vs. William Regal

The match is joined in progress and Hurricane is on the attack. Regal hits a knee and dumps Hurricane to the floor. Hurricane slides in and dumps Regal, then dives out to the floor. Hurricane rolls Regal in and stomps on the chest. Regal up and he hits a series of left hands. Hurricane ducks a clothesline and hits a cross body and follows with a suplex for a two count. Hurricane hits a neckbreaker on Regal and goes up top. Hurricane waits and hits a huge flying cross body for a two count. Regal rolls outside, but Hurricane follows to keep him from leaving. Regal catches Hurricane coming in the ring and hits the knee trembler. Regal goes for the pin, but Hurricane’s foot was under the ropes. Regal re-hooks the legs and gets the three count at 2:45 of air time.

After the bell, Paul Burchill rushes from behind and nail Hurricane in the head. Burchill hits the Dangerous Driver and stands tall.

Winner: William Regal

Match Rating: * This was pretty bad from what these two can do.

We go backstage to Goldust giving Yoshi Tatsu giving an English lesson. Yoshi does good as Zack Ryder comes in. He asks Yoshi if he can say loser. Goldust repeats it and Yoshi says “Zack Ryder”. Zack walks away mad and says he will show him who the loser is later tonight. Woo, woo, woo.

Back from the break we get a replay of Burchill destroying The Hurricane. We see him walking backstage and he gets interviewed about his actions. Burchill says that Gregory Helms is in the ring where he left him and that he put Katie Lea in harm’s way last week. He won’t stop until he is exposed as being the Hurricane.

Yoshi Tatsu vs. Zack Ryder

Our guest ring announcers are the Bella Twins this week. No arguments from me here, but can we please get them in a hot tub in bikinis again. Matt Striker calls Ryder’s music the greatest in ECW. Yeah, he did say it and I don’t believe it either. The bell rings as Josh says Matt has a man crush on Ryder. I concur. Ryder grounds Yoshi with an arm wrench, but Yoshi flips out and reverses into one of his own. Ryder escapes with a hip toss, but Yoshi flips through and hits one of his own. Zach whips Yoshi, but gets taken down with a shoulder block and a Japanese arm drag. Tatsu with a dragon roll for a two count. Ryder thrown into the corner and he avoids the charge, before choking Yoshi in the corner. Ryder connects with the running low kick to the head and gets a two count. A chin lock is applied by Ryder and he grabs the hair to stop the escape. Ryder with a knee to the back and a back suplex for two. Ryder drives a knee to the head and locks in a cross face. Yoshi turns to make it a chin lock and gets to his feet. Ryder drives him down with a reverse Russian leg sweep and goes again to the chin lock. Ryder hits a headbutt to stop the momentum this time, but runs into a boot to the face after a whip to the corner. Yoshi then hits a Roaring Elbow out of nowhere and whips Ryder into the corner, connecting with a double knee strike. Ryder goes up top and Yoshi hits a Hurricarana for a two count. Ryder ducks the roundhouse kick and hits a flying leg lariat for a two count. Yoshi slips away from Ryder’s back suplex and now hits the roundhouse kick for the three count at 6:35.

Winner: Yoshi Tatsu

Match Rating: **1/2 Pretty decent match between these two.

Back from the break and we already start the hype for the two matches scheduled for the Hell in the Cell PPV, with DX facing Legacy and John Cena facing Randy Orton.

10 Man Battle Royal for the #1 Contendership to the ECW Title – Vladimir Kozlov, Ezekiel Jackson, Tommy Dreamer, Goldust, Paul Burchill, Zack Ryder, Shelton Benjamin, Sheamus, Tyler Reks, and Yoshi Tatsu

Like I said before, good look with me keeping track of this. The order listed is just the order I have them based on the graphic before commercials and the order they came out for whatever I missed. Dreamer gets a pretty good pop, as did Shelton. We go to commercial as Sheamus is the seventh person to show up.

We get back in time to see the final three enter as Ryder is still holding his head. The bell rings and chaos ensues as Striker picks Sheamus to win. Burchill has Shelton in the corner as Kozlov dominates Yoshi. Reks battles Sheamus and Goldust fights with Jackson. Ryder gets nailed by Goldust and is almost dumped, but Shelton with an Exploder Suplex to eliminate Paul Burchill at 1:45.

Jackson goes after Dreamer now as Shelton tangles with Yoshi. Kozlov chokes Goldust in the corner as Dreamer saves himself. Reks battles Sheamus and Jackson chokes Tatsu in the corner. Shelton and Ryder try to eliminate Dreamer as Goldust fires back on Kozlov. A Goldust chant starts as he tries to eliminate Kozlov. Sheamus nails Reks in the gut and stomps away on him. Dreamer, Shelton, and Tatsu try to eliminate Big Zeke, but he fights them off. He huts a huge slam on Dreamer as Tatsu tries to dump Sheamus. Kozlov hits headbutts on just about everyone as Shelton skins the cat. Kozlov dumps Reks, but he lands in the apron and a stare down happens between Kozlov and Jackson as we go to commercial at 5:50.

We are back at 9:55 as Kozlov shoulders Sheamus in the corner. During the break, Kozlov dumped Tyler Reks. Jackson with shoulders to Dreamer in the corner after Jackson tossed out Tatsu at 11:40. Ryder almost eliminated Shelton, but he hangs on. Jackson drills Goldust and Sheamus headbutts Kozlov with some effect! Goldust grabs the ropes with his legs, but is almost eliminated until Tommy Dreamer saves him. Kozlov works on Goldust as Sheamus and Ryder work on Shelton. Ryder then stays away from everyone, but Shelton nails Sheamus with a huge kick to the head. Shelton then clotheslines Sheamus to the floor at 13:00. Jackson dumps Shelton, but he hangs on and head scissors Jackson to the floor at 13:15. Sheamus then pulls Shelton down at 13:20. We are down to four with Kozlov, Goldust, Tommy Dreamer, and Zack Ryder. Goldust goes to town on Ryder and nearly eliminates him. Ryder tries to suplex Goldust to the floor, but with no avail. Ryder gets clotheslined, but stays on the apron and low bridges Goldust out of the match at 15:30 and the crowd is pissed off. Tommy Dreamer misses a clothesline and is against the ropes, but he low bridges a charging Kozlov out of the ring at 16:10!!! But Zack Ryder comes out of nowhere to dump Tommy Dreamer out of the ring to win the match at 16:15!!

Winner and #1 contender: Zach Ryder

Match Rating: *** Zack Ryder wins?? Well, talk about a shock winner that actually works here. I’m liking the match and this matchup.
