UPDATED: Lucha Underground Confirms Season Two
UPDATE: El Rey and Mark Burnett have made the announcement official. In a press release sent to 411, El Rey announced that Lucha Underground will begin filming in Q4 2015 for an early 2016 premiere on the network.
“We brought together some of the best athletes from lucha libre and wrestling to fight in Los Angeles this year on ‘Lucha Underground’. It was fresh, it was compelling and it got the attention and created buzz across the entire wrestling world,” said Burnett.
El Rey Network Chairman and Founder Robert Rodriguez said, “The explosive combination of athleticism and storytelling makes for such great television and I’m so pleased that this legendary wrestling tradition will continue to have a home on El Rey Network.”
ORIGINAL: After months of speculation, a second season of Lucha Underground is official. Lucha Underground’s Twitter account posted the following tonight, announcing that a second season is coming in 2016:
