Trish Stratus to Receive Award From Ontario Sports Hall of Fame

– Trish Stratus is set to receive an award from the Ontario Sports Hall of Fame. The organization has announced their 2017 honorees and Stratus will receive the Sandy Hawley Community Service Award. The award, named after the famed jockey, is handed out each year to an individual who best exemplifies a dedication to the community.

Stratus commented took to her website to comment on the honor, writing, “Giving back to my community was something that was instilled in me from my days with WWE. As a global brand, we recognized the many opportunities that we could make an impact towards,” Trish said. “After retiring from the ring, I have remained active as an ambassador for WWE and have continued my work with my own brand to support events and initiatives locally. Being recognized by the Ontario Sports Hall of Fame is truly special to me.”

The 2017 Hall of Fame class includes Paul Coffey (Hockey), John Campbell (Harness Racing), Bob Allan (Lacrosse), Marnie McBean (Rower), Bob Gainey (Hockey) and John Hiller (Baseball). The class and award winners will be honoured at the Ontario Sports Hall of Fame 2017 Induction Ceremony & Awards Gala in Toronto at The Westin Harbour Castle (Metropolitan Ballroom) on October 2nd.
