Kenya Miranda Isn’t Feeling the Pressure Ahead of Bellator Debut

September 16, 2016 | Posted by Jeremy Thomas

Kenya Miranda spoke with MMAjunkie about her Bellator debut against Emily Ducote at Bellator 161. Some highlights are below:

On moving from taekwondo to MMA: “I’ve always lived that lifestyle. I wrapped up my taekwondo career and didn’t think I’d be coming back to the mat. At a friend’s invitation, I decided to go to an MMA training session, just for fun. I enjoyed it and haven’t stopped since. Fighting is in my blood. It was my mother who signed me up when I was 13. I’ve been in martial arts since that time, always training. I’ve been in MMA for four years now. My family has always been supportive. I chose to live away from my family, though. They all live outside Brazil. But I chose to be here so I could follow my dream. I battled for this, and now I see it was worth it.”

On making her Bellator debut: “I’m very relaxed in regards to my debut. I’ve been training hard since signing the contract. I feel it’s a pity that both Brunas lost, since they are Brazilian, but at the same time, nothing changes for me. I’ll leave home and do my work.”
