Lethal Weapon will be without a Riggs or a Murtaugh by the end of its current episode count. Damon Wayans has announced he’s leaving the show, revealing the news in an interview with Electronic Urban Report. Wayans said he will leave in December after the currently-ordered thirteen-episode run is complete.

The news comes as a big blow to the series, which suddenly found itself on thin ice after Clayne Crawford (Riggs) was let go due to claims that he was emotionally abusive and created a hostile work environment on-set, particularly clashing with Wayans. Crawford claimed that the allegations were exaggerated and that Wayans got him fired. Whether the show will get more episodes or a renewal at this point isn’t known, but it is a major mark against that possibility — especially when you consider that the show isn’t lighting up the ratings.

Wayans said in the interview, “You have to look yourself in the eye and ask, who are you? It can’t be all about work. I’m from a big family, a loving family. All the family gatherings, I haven’t seen them. I’m too tired or I can’t because it conflicts with work. I have seven grandkids. I’ve been missing recitals and graduations. To me it’s just not worth it. There is a better way to live life.”
