Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg To Produce Series About Nintendo-Sega Battle
Variety reports that Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg are producing a TV series called Console Wars that will focus on the battle between Nintendo and Sega in the late 80s and early 90s. Legendary Television acquired the rights to Blake J. Harris’ novel Console Wars: Sega, Nintendo and the Battle that Defined a Generation. It will be a limited drama series and follows the behind-the-scenes story of Sega challenging Nintendo and changing the video game industry.
The series will be directed by Jordan Vogt-Roberts with Mike Rosolio writing the pilot. Rogen and Goldberg are executive producing through Point Grey with James Weaver. Other executive producers include Scott Rudin and Eli Bush, Julian Rosenberg of Circle of Confusion, Harris and Jonah Tulis’ Flying Penguin Pictures, Rosolio and Vogt-Roberts. A network has not picked up the project yet.
Rogen and Goldberg were originally set to direct a feature film in 2014, with Rogen saying a documentary feature would be released first. Now, the limited series will take the place of the movie.
