Black Mirror Creator Confirms There Will Be A Fifth Season

In an interview with The New York Times, Black Mirror creator Charlie Brooker confirmed that the recent film Bandersnatch will not be the show’s fifth season, but more episodes will debut on Netflix later on. He didn’t reveal when the show would return, as the interactive film took up all of their focus this year. Here are highlights:

On the future of Black Mirror: “We’re doing more optimistic episodes and stories, rather than just dystopian and negative ones. We want to keep the show interesting for us.”

On Black Mirror showing the dark side of technology: “When we started doing the show, the general view of technology was a rosy one. I remember looking at Apple advertisements, and the imagery in them was so lovely. It reminded me of that sequence in ‘Soylent Green’ where they show the old guy beautiful images of nature, just before they kill him.”

On the number of endings Bandersnatch has: “I don’t know how many endings there are. We don’t know what we’ve created here.”
