Thanksgiving Sequel Set For 2025 Release
Slashing is back on the holiday menu in 2025, with Eli Roth announcing a Thanksgiving sequel. Roth posted to Instagram to announce that a sequel to the horror film has been greenlit by Sony and will release in 2025, “probably around Thanksgiving.”
Roth noted that he and co-writer Jeff Rendell are taking the extra year to get the script right for the film. Roth did not confirm that he will be back to direct, though that would seem likely.
Thanksgiving, based on the faux trailer from 2007’s Grindhouse, release on November 17th and has grossed $30.3 million worldwide to date against a $10 million budget. It stars Patrick Dempsey, Addison Rae, Milo Manheim, Jalen Thomas Brooks, Nell Verlaque, Rick Hoffman, and Gina Gershon and is described as follows:
After a Black Friday riot ends in tragedy, a mysterious Thanksgiving-inspired killer terrorizes Plymouth, Massachusetts -— the birthplace of the holiday. Picking off residents one by one, what begins as random revenge killings are soon revealed to be part of a larger, sinister holiday plan. Will the town uncover the killer and survive the holidays… or become guests at his twisted holiday dinner table?
