Simon Kinberg In Talks To Produce New Star Trek Film

Paramount is in talks with longtime X-Men producer Simon Kinberg for a new Star Trek film. Deadline reports that Kinberg is in discussions to produce a new film in the franchise, which is set to be directed by Toby Haynes (Andor) and written by Seth Grahame-Smith.

While plot details are under wraps, the film is reportedly set decades before the 2009 Star Trek reboot from JJ Abrams and could delve into the creation of Starfleet.

In addition to his work with the X-Men franchise at Fox, Kinberg produced the likes of The Martian and Murder on the Orient Express. No word on any potential release window or start date for the new Star Trek film, which would be the first in the franchise since Star Trek Beyond in 2016.
