Josh Brolin To Play Villain In Edgar Wright’s The Running Man Adaptation

Josh Brolin is heading into the dystopian future of The Running Man, signing on to play the villain in the new adaptation. THR reports that the MCU alumnus is set to star opposite Glen Powell and Katy O’Brien in the film, which is bring directed by Edgar Wright and will re-adapt the Stephen King novella (written under King’s former penname of Richard Bachman).

The original novella is about a dystopian world in which a man participates in the reality show The Running Man, which sees contestants try to win money by evading hitmen sent to kill them. It was famously adapted in 1987 for a sci-fi action film starring Arnold Schwarzenegger, María Conchita Alonso, and Richard Dawson.

Paramount will release the new film on November 21st, 2025.
