Shelton Benjamin Is Excited To Possibly Face Will Ospreay, Praises Lio Rush As First AEW Opponent

Shelton Benjamin has a lot of new matchups to look forward to in AEW, and he says he’s most excited by Will Ospreay. Benjamin made his in-ring debut for AEW on last week’s show with a win over Lio Rush, and he spoke with Gabby LeSpisa on Gabby AF about that match and some of his potential opponents. On who excites him the most in AEW: “For me, the name that excites me the most in AEW is Will Ospreay. That is the one guy that I’m like ‘I want to know what we could do together,’ because I think it’s not even a win or loss thing, I just think my style versus his style would be very entertaining. So that’s the name that excites me out of anyone really in the industry right now.”

On a possible match with Ricochet: “We had a couple of good matches in WWE. However, due to creative directions, they weren’t, in my opinion, as good as they could have been because … they weren’t allowed to be as good as they could be.”

On Lio Rush being his first opponent in AEW: “He was a great opponent. No matter what people say about his size, that’s a grown man, and he conducted himself like a grown man should.”

On fan criticisms that the match went on too long: “If I would’ve went in there and just walked through him, like, it makes me look good but how entertaining is that for the fans?… Lio put up a fight, it doesn’t matter if you think it should have gone longer or shorter.”
