Backstage Update on Controversial Line by Carlito During WWE Raw

– Fightful Select has an update on a controversial line from Carlito that made it on the air during last night’s WWE Raw broadcast. During a backstage segment with Adam Pearce, Carlito stated, “I gotta learn Chinese,” after Damage CTRL’s Iyo Sky and Kairi Sane walked out of the shot. Both women are Japanese

According to the report, Carlito’s line was not scripted, and one staff member said the people they spoke to about the line were in disbelief that Carlito said it. Additionally, in the past, Iyo Sky has been subjected to audience attendees yelling, “Go back to China,” at her.

WWE later edited the line out of all its digital and social clips of the segment. The report also notes that multiple people within WWE weren’t happy the line was spoken and made it to air. However, it’s unknown if any action is being takent or if there is heat on anyone for the situation yet.
