Karate Kid: Legends Trailer Brings Jackie Chan & Ralph Macchio Together
Sony Pictures released the first trailer for the upcoming big-screen return of The Karate Kid franchise with Karate Kid: Legends. The new film features The Karate Kid 2010 star Jackie Chan, as Mr. Han, and original franchise star Ralph Macchio, as Daniel LaRusso, meeting onscreen for the first time. In the new franchise installment, kung fu prodigy Li Fong (Ben Wang) is uprooted from his home in Beijing and moves to New York City with his mother. Li struggles to leg go of his past and fit in with his new classmates. While he doesn’t want to fight, trouble follows him everywhere. In order to help a new friend, Li enters a karate competition, so he’ll need some help. Li’s kung fu teacher Mr. Han (Chan) enlists the help of the original Karate Kid, Daniel La Russo (Macchio) for help, so Li can learn the ways of karate, merging their two styles for an epic martial arts showdown.
The upcoming franchise revival is directed by Jonathan Entwistle from a script by Rob Lieber. It’s produced by Karen Rosenfelt, with Jenny Hinkey and Ralph Macchio serving as executive producers. It also stars Joshua Jackson, Sadie Stanley, and Ming-Na Wen. The film hits theaters on May 30.
