Chris Jericho says that if he doesn’t end up in the WWE Hall of Fame, he won’t be insulted by it. The wrestling star had a very memorable run in WWE of course, becoming one of the company’s top names and holding a ton of titles there including a record nine runs with the Intercontinental Championship, the Undisputed WWE Championship, World Heavyweight Championship and more.
Jericho is now with AEW, which has led to speculation he may not be put into the WWE Hall of Fame, at least as long as he’s under AEW contract. Jericho, who has previously said he doesn’t worry about Halls of Fame, spoke with TMZ Inside the Ring and was asked if he thought WWE may delay inducting him. He noted that he doesn’t worry about it and won’t feel insulted if he doesn’t get in, because it’s not personal. You can see highlights below:
On If WWE Might Not Put Him In the Hall of Fame For a While:
“I mean — once again, I had a great career in WWE. It was almost 20 years with a few years here off. And it was always my dream to be in the WWE. And did I create enough memorable moments and matches and characters, and creations and rivalries and moments to be in the WWE Hall of Fame? Absolutely. That’s all I need.
“And if I’m in, if I’m not in, if it’s tribalism, if it’s politics, I get that too, man. I’ve been in this business 36 years. I understand how it works. It’s not personal; I’m not insulted.”
On Not Being Upset About It:
“And if I finish my career with AEW and [end up] the first inductee, or the second inductee, or the 10th inductee into the AEW Hall of Fame? That’s great too. But I’m in the Hall of Fame in my head, and in the heads of anybody that appreciates the work that I’ve done. That’s good enough for me, man. Like, it really is. You know? And I don’t need anything else than that.
“And that might sound a little bit like ‘Oh, but–,’ but it’s really true. Like, I’ve had a real blessed life in that I’ve got a chance to travel around the world doing what I always wanted to do. And making people happy by doing it — or getting people angry by doing it, which is the same thing? That’s Hall of Fame all across the board, you know?”
