Jim Miller vs. Bobby Green Cancelled From UFC 258 After Green Collapsed Before Staredowns
The planned lightweight fight between Bobby Green and Jim Miller for UFC 258 has been cancelled. While Green had successfully weighed in yesterday for the fight at 155.5 pounds, UFC President Dana White later told reporters in a media scrum after the staredowns that Green had collapsed backstage (via MMAFighting.com).
White stated, “Bobby Green just collapsed back there. Doctors are looking at him. They’re trying to re-hydrate him right now.” Officials for the promotion later confirmed that the fight had been cancelled. No details were provided on Green’s health status.
In an Instagram Story post, Green stated that his “kidneys failed” due to his weight cut. He posted, “So to be clear I have air pockets in my lungs, I guess, and my kidneys failed. I messed my back up in training. I thought it was just pain from that.”
UFC 258 will move forward as scheduled with one fight off the event. The fight is being held at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas, Nevada and will be broadcast live on PPV via ESPN+. Prelims will be shown on ESPN, ESPN+, and UFC Fight Pass.
