Khabib Nurmagomedov, Conor McGregor Both Receive Initial Suspension After UFC 229

The NSAC has issued initial ten-day suspensions to Khabib Nurmagomedov and Conor McGregor as they investigate the post-fight events of UFC 229. A Nevada State Athletic Commission confirmed to MMAjunkie that letters informing both fighters of suspensions were sent on Wednesday. The suspensions run until at least October 15th and could be extended when the commission meets on October 24th.
Nurmagomedov and McGregor can appeal the suspensions, which were issued by NSAC executive director Bob Bennett, at the meeting. Neither fighter’s manager have responded to the reports as of yet. The investigation is into the events following Nurmagomedov’s win over McGregor, when he lept the cage to attack one of McGregor’s teammates who was reportedly taunting him by insulting his faith. McGregor’s coach has denied that story, saying he didn’t hear Dillon Danis say anything.
Nurmagomedov posted to Instagram earlier on Thursday saying he was being unfairly punished and arguing that no one from McGregor’s team was fired after McGregor and company’s bus attack last April.
