Marlon Vera Hoping To Fight On UFC 233 Card
In an interview with MMA Junkie, Marlon Vera said he’s hoping to get a spot on UFC 223, which happens in January from Anaheim, California. Here are highlights:
On wanting a spot on UFC 233: “Anaheim will be an amazing place to be. I think that’s the place to be and that’s what I will ask for.”
On being ready to fight: “You know me, I’m always ready to fight. I will wait a couple of days until my body heals. I feel good, and then I will be back in the gym. I see a couple of bantamweights will fight in December, so if somebody gets hurt, I might call (UFC matchmaker Sean Shelby) and be like, ‘Yo, what’s up?’ I will be in Vegas next week, because my teammate is fighting in the (The Ultimate Fighter 28 Finale). So I will go to the (Performance Institute), get some training and knock some doors. If I see (UFC President) Dana (White), talk to him a little bit. If I see Sean Shelby, just be like, ‘Hey, let me know.’”
On preferring short notice fights: “Because in three months, you’ve got so much to do. I have a family, so when it’s short-notice, it’s just make weight, let’s bang, get the win, go back home. But we’ve got to make it right. The only thing I can do for now is evolve, get better, make a lot of questions and start learning new stuff, so I can show the fans some fun fights.”
