September 13, 2016 | Posted by Joseph Lee

In an interview with MMA Junkie, Mickey Gall said that after beating CM Punk at UFC 203, he was hoping to fight serious contenders in the welterweight division. Here are highlights:

On having name value now: “People know who I am because of this Punk fight now, right? I fought on the main card of this, UFC 203. Everyone wanted to see him fight. I’m the guy that kicked his ass. So I don’t think people are going to forget about me. (If) I fight Sage next, I’m going to beat him up. Then they’re going to know me more. Then I’m going to beat up the next guy then the next guy.”

On needing to prove himself: “This is what I want to do. Since I was 16, every decision I made in my life was toward being here. I saw the path when I found out Dana White was going to be at my first fight. I’m a thinker. I saw the path. This is where I want to be. I want war with the best guys in the world. I want to climb. I want to be a UFC champion. I was fighting an amateur. I 100 percent need to prove myself still. That’s why I’m excited to get going still. Now the real work, the real fights. Every fight’s a fight. I do feel a sense of accomplishment, sure. I do love seeing the crowd and stuff. But it’s not like I’m feeling like I beat a great fighter. I beat a fighter – just not a great fighter.”

On who he wants to fight: “I’m ready for the UFC killers now. I want war with the best guys in the world.”
