Sergei Kharitonov Discusses Signing With Bellator MMA
MMAjunkie recently spoke to new Bellator MMA fighter Sergei Kharitonov, who discussed his recent signing with Bellator. Below are some highlights.
Kharitonov on wanting to sign with the UFC when he was in Strikeforce: “I can definitely say that, yes, I wanted to be in the UFC when the Strikeforce era was over. But I had a management problem, and at that time, I was with Golden Glory, and I left them. Many other fighters left them, as well, because of some of the incidents we had.”
On fighting for Bellator: “But now, it’s a new era for me because I’m fighting in Bellator. I’m with Scott Coker again, and I feel very honored and happy to be here. … I’m 35 years old. I have no injuries. I just feel great overall. Right now, my long term goal is definitely to become a champion in Bellator.”
On wanting to train with Fabricio Werdum at Kings MMA: “I’m very disappointed that he left, because I really was looking forward to training with him, and I think we could set it up. I think when he comes back, we’re going to meet and train together.”
