UFC’s Josh Samman Dead At The Age Of 28
MMA Fighting reports that UFC fighter Josh Samman has passed away at the age of 28. Samman has been in a coma since last week prior to his passing. He was found unresponsive in a south Florida apartment by police who responded to a suspected drug overdose. His friend, Troy Kirkingburg, was dead when Samman was found. At the time, Samman was breathing and had a pulse.
It’s unknown what the cause of death was, but an autopsy may provide some answers. Broward County Medical Examiner and Trauma Services chief medical examiner Craig Mallak said that there will be no toxicology report because Samman was alive for days after he was found and “there are no suitable specimens to test.” He said there may be no definitive cause of death found. Kirkingburg’s cause of death will be decided after a toxicology. He was also 28.
Samman has had issues in the past with drug addiction, suicidal thoughts and tragedy, which he wrote about in his book The Housekeeper. The news of his death comes after an announcement last week that he was set to fight Oluwale Bambgose at UFC Fight Night 102 on December 9 in Albany, New York.
