It looks like the 21 Jump Street film franchise is about to finally make a comeback to the big screen. However, it looks like the sequel to 2014’s 22 Jump Street is skipping over “23” and going straight to 24 Jump Street as the current title, per The Hollywood Reporter.

The new sequel is currently in the works at Sony Pictures, with franchise stars Jonah Hill, Channing Tatum, and Ice Cube all in talks to return to reprise their respective roles as Morton Schmidt, Greg Jenko, and Captain Dickson.

Rodney Rothman, who wrote the second movie, is reportedly attached to direct the threequel from a script he wrote with Hill and Meghan Malloy. Phil Lord and Chris Miller, who directed the first two movies, will produce the third installment along with Neal H. Mortiz. Rothman also collaborated with Lord and Miller on Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, which he co-directed.

Tatum previously indicated that a third Jump Street movie was written back in 2024, and stated that he’d love to work on the sequel with Hill once again. For a time, Sony Pictures developed a crossover movie featuring Men in Black and Jump Street. Lord and Miller later confirmed that a script was written during the Happy, Sad, Confused podcast. Ultimately, the crossover movie fell through, and Sony opted to reboot the Men in Black franchise with Men in Black: International in 2022.

Interestingly enough, 22 Jump Street riffed on sequel tropes and conventions with a fun closing credit sequence. 23 Jump Street: Medical School saw Schmidt and Jenko doing a stint in medical school. Meanwhile, 24 Jump Street: Foreign Exchange showed them on a foreign exchange student mission in Russia. It remains to be seen if the franchise will follow through on the 24 Jump Street gag from the closing credit sequence.

24 Jump Street does not yet have an official release date.
