I’m Steve Gustafson and thanks for stopping by. If you enjoy reading or discussing anything comic book related, you’ve come to the right place. I throw out a subject, you comment below. Easy. Let’s get started.

Previously on…

Last time we discussed the Oddest Superheroes in Comics. Here’s what some of you had to say:

Joseph Hanson: “Did The Tick have comic book origins?”

DarthDaver: “If you’re going to mention Dog-Welder, you can’t forget Bueno Excellente, Guts, or the rest of Section 8.”

El Atomico: “Great idea for a list, good stuff.

The first one to pop into my head was Matter Eater Lad, glad to see him get a mention.

I’m not sure if he ever became a full-fledged superhero, but didn’t the Flash (Wally West) fight, and eventually befriend, a fat guy who swallowed people on Earth, transporting them to another planet?

And how about Dazzler? Wasn’t she just a disco singer who could make her own strobe lights?

Thanks again, Gusto!”

Harry Brady: “How about Herbie from the 60’s?”

Ken Wood: “Cerebus the Aardvark and the Maxx come to mind as just weird heroes. Speaking of X-Men, Boom Boom’s powers seem weird. What’s with the count down? And Warlocke, though awesome, is definitely strange.”

Richard C: “– Matter-Eater Lad –”

Too many great comments to share. Go back and see for yourself. Also, as always, thanks for the input!

This week we discuss…

2019 411mania Comic Book Award Nominations

This might sink but after much debate I’ve decided to FINALLY put together a 411mania Comic Book Awards. As a fan of the old PWI Awards, I wanted to throw some fun Awards that would come directly from you, the reader, to fill in the big ones.

While I’ve pretty much narrowed my nominees and winners, my mind is open to whatever arises in the comments section. Here’s what I’m bringing:

Best Big Two Publisher

Best Independent Publisher

Best Writer

Best Artists

Best Event

Best Book

Best Hero

Best Villain

Give your impressions below and come back next week to see who takes the titles for 2019.

That’s all the time I have. Check out our Comic Book Reviews tomorrow and see you next week!
