411’s 82nd Annual Golden Globes Report: The Brutalist, Emilia Pérez Win Top Film Awards
The Brutalist and Emilia Pérez were the big film winners at the 82nd annual Golden Globes. The two films won Best Motion Picture in the Drama and Musical/Comedy category, respectively, on Sunday night’s show. Emilia Pérez won the most film awards with four, taking home additional wins for Supporting Actress in a Motion Picture (Zoe Saldana), Best Non-English Language Film, and Best Original Song (“El Mas).” The Brutalist meanwhile had a total of three wins including Best Actor in a Drama (Adrien Brody) and Best Director for Brady Corbet.
There were a few surprises and shutouts in the film area. Notable among the surprises was Demi Moore upsetting Mikey Madison for Best Actress in a Musical/Comedy for her performance in The Substance. Anora was actually shut out, picking up zero wins from its five nominations. The Best Actress in a Drama award was also an upset as Fernanda Torres defeated Angelina Jolie, Kate Winslet, Tilda Swinton, and Pamela Anderson for her work in I’m Still Here. And Sebastian Stan defeated won Best Actor in a Musical/Comedy for A Different Man, defeating Jessie Eisenberg who was up for his film A Real Pain.
On the TV side, it was all about Shogun, Hacks, and Baby Reindeer. Shogun swept the Drama categories, winning Best TV Series in a Drama, Best Actor (Hiroyuki Sanada), Best Actress (Anna Sawai). It also took the award for Best Supporting Actor for Tadanobu Asano’s work on the first season. Hacks won Best Comedy Series as well as Best Actress in a Comedy for Jean Smart, while Baby Reindeer won Best Limited Series, Anthology Series, or TV Movie and Best Supporting Actress in a TV role for Jessica Gunning.
