ABC Renews Roseanne For Eleventh Season After Massive Premiere Rating
Color this a surprise for no one: after it return to massive ratings, Roseanne has been given a quick renewal for an eleventh season. ABC Entertainment announced on Friday that the show, which scored the highest rating for a sitcom in three and a half years for its first two episodes on Tuesday, has been renewed for a thirteen-episode run next season. That’s four more than the new season’s nine episodes.
Roseanne was a ratings phenomenon in its return, notching a 5.2 rating in Live+Same Day viewing. With the next days’ DVR viewing factored in as well, the show jumped to a 6.24 demo rating. Even if the show sinks by a giant percentage, it will almost certainly still end up above the 1.68 seasonal demo rating (so far) for ABC’s highest-rated sitcom in Modern Family.
“We’re thrilled that America has welcomed the Conner family back into their homes. The show is as fresh and relevant today as it was when it left the air 21 years ago. We can’t wait to see what the ‘Roseanne’ team has in store for next year,” said ABC Entertainment president Channing Dungey.
