Conan the Barbarian will see life yet again. Amazon is developing a series based on the Robert E. Howard hero, per Deadline. The site reports that the series will be based on Howard’s books and not any of the previous adaptations such as the Arnold Schwarzenegger franchise or the Jason Momoa film.

The series is coming from Ryan Condal (Colony), Miguel Sapochnik (Game of Thrones), Warren Littlefield (Fargo), Pathfinder Media and Endeavor Content. Condal wrote and created the new take and will executive produce with Sapochnik and Littlefield. Sapochnik, who has directed some of Thrones’ biggest and most beloved episodes, will direct.

In the series, Conan is driven out of his tribal homelands and wanders the mysterious and treacherous world of civilization where he searches for purpose in a place that rejects him as a mindless savage.
