The rights to Anne Rice’s Vampire Chronicles and Mayfair Witches have landed at last, going to AMC. Variety reports that AMC has acquired the massive TV and film package for the iconic Anne Rice supernatural novel series and now owns the comprehensive rights for the IP. Rice was shopping the complete rights package as of late last year.

The outlet reports AMC will develop film and television projects for its networks and streaming services under AMC Studios, plus external partner licensing. Rice and her son Christopher will executive produce all series and films developed under the deal.

The Vampire Chronicles is world-known thanks to Interview With a Vampire and Queen of the Damned, both of which saw film adaptations. The Mayfair Witches series is set in the same world as Lestat and his comrades and has crossed over from time to time. The Mayfair Witches books were, like the Vampire Chronicles books, best-sellers in their own right.

“It’s always been my dream to see the worlds of my two biggest series united under a single roof so that filmmakers could explore the expansive and interconnected universe of my vampires and witches,” said Anne Rice. “That dream is now a reality, and the result is one of the most significant and thrilling deals of my long career.”
