Anthony Russo Says Marvel Should Wait on Bringing Wolverine Into the MCU

Fans are excited for the prospect of seeing Wolverine join the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but Anthony Russo thinks they should wait. Russo, who co-directed Captain America: Civil War, Avengers: Infinity War, and Avengers Endgame with his brother Joe, spoke with CBM for a new interview and explained why he thinks Marvel Studios should hold off in including the Best There Is at What He Does.

“I mean, Wolverine was always one of my favorite characters,” Anthony said. “Incredible Hulk #181 was one of the first comic books that I remember collecting, which was the first appearance of Wolverine. Hugh Jackman has done an incredible job with that character over the years, and I think they should take a break for a little while before someone else takes a crack at it.”

Marvel Studios head Kevin Feige teased the arrival of “the mutants” to the MCU at San Diego Comic-Con last year, but there’s no word on what form that arrival may take. Jackman played Wolverine in eight films from X-Men to Logan, as well as cameos in X-Men: First Class and Deadpool 2.
