Atlanta Renewed For Third Season
Coming Soon reports that FX Networks has renewed Atlanta for a third season, although a premiere date has not been revealed. There was previously a year and a half between the first and second seasons.
FX Networks and FX productions co-presidents of original programming Eric Schrier and Nick Grad said: “Atlanta is phenomenal, achieving and exceeding what few television series have done. With Atlanta Robbin’ Season, Donald and his collaborators elevated the series to even greater heights, building on the enormous success of their award-winning first season. We’re grateful to the producers and our extraordinary cast and crew for achieving this level of excellence, and we share the excitement with our audience about the third season knowing they will continue to take us to unexpected and thrilling places.”
Here’s a synopsis: Atlanta tells the story of two cousins trying to find their way to the top of the local rap scene, all the while dealing with the many real and absurd troubles black folk face in the city. The series was created by Donald Glover who also stars in the lead role as Earnest “Earn” Marks, a Princeton dropout who now manages his cousin’s burgeoning rap career. He’s joined in the series by Brian Tyree Henry, Lakeith Stanfield, and Zazie Beetz.
