Beverly Hills 90210 Revival Is Not A Revival Or a Reboot

As we previously reported a new project was in the works for Beverly Hills 90210, with most of the original cast returning. That includes Jennie Garth, Tori Spelling, Jason Priestley, Ian Ziering, Brian Austin Green and Gabrielle Carteris. TVLine reports that the series is actually not a revival or a reboot, as it will instead be a new project about the difficulties of trying to get a reboot of the original show off the ground.

The series will have an hour-long mockumentary format with the cast members playing exaggerated versions of themselves. Former cast members Shannen Doherty and Luke Perry will not return. Mike Chessler and Chris Algerghini, who worked on the 2008 revival 90210 and the 2006 VH1 mockumentary So NoTORIous, will return to write and executive produce. Several outlets, including a broadcast network and one major streaming service, are interested. CBS Studios will produce the Beverly Hills 90210 project.
