Bill Cosby Slams Eddie Murphy Over SNL Shot, Calls Him ‘Hollywood Slave’

Bill Cosby didn’t seem to find Eddie Murphy’s much-talked-about return to Saturday Night Live very funny. Murphy took a shot at Cosby during the show’s opening monologue on Saturday night, saying that if you would’ve told him 30 years ago that he would be a stay-at-home dad while Cosby was in jail, he would take that bet. He also did a brief Cosby impersonation.

In a post on Cosby’s Instagram page, Cosby’s publicist called Murphy a “Hollywood Slave” and said that Cosby broke color barriers so that “Blacks like Eddie Murphy, Dave Chappell, Kevin Hart and et al., could have an opportunity to showcase their talents.” Cosby, of course, remains in prison after being found guilty of aggravated indecent assault in 2018.

“Mr. Cosby became the first Black to win an Emmy for his role in I Spy and Mr. Cosby broke color barriers in the Entertainment Industry, so that Blacks like Eddie Murphy, Dave Chappell, Kevin Hart and et al., could have an opportunity to showcase their talents for many generations to come. It is sad that Mr. Murphy would take this glorious moment of returning to SNL and make disparaging remarks against Mr. Cosby. One would think that Mr. Murphy was given his freedom to leave the plantation, so that he could make his own decisions; but he decided to sell himself back to being a Hollywood Slave.
