Bob Newhart To Return For Season 12 of The Big Bang Theory

TVLine reports that Bob Newhart will return for the 12th season of The Big Bang Theory, making what could be his final appearance as Arthur Jeffries/Professor Proton. It’s unknown why he’ll show up this time, but he usually arrives to give Sheldo advice. Newart has appeared five times prior to this, and died in season seven’s “The Proton Transmogrification. He still shows up in visions, including “The Proton Regeneration.”

The show will end after its after its 12th season, which airs this fall. Executive producer Steve Holland said: “There are certainly people that we love that we want to see again [before the end] — like Bob Newhart.”

It will return on September 24 at 8 PM ET before moving to its regular time on Thursday September 27. The studio said they “aim to deliver a final season, and series finale, that will bring The Big Bang Theory to an epic creative close.”
